Kentucky Kingdom Expands with New Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster

Kentucky Kingdom Expands with New Vekoma Suspended Family Coaster

Kentucky Kingdom is preparing to introduce a new family roller coaster in 2026 called Flying Fox. The suspended family coaster, manufactured by Dutch company Vekoma, is part of what the park describes as the boldest expansion in its history. The addition represents one phase of a multi-year development plan now in progress. Vekoma describes the suspended coaster as delivering exceptional smoothness through every twist and turn. The ride is designed to appeal to both younger enthusiasts and older guests who enjoy moderate thrills and airtime hills. The custom coaster represents a significant investment for the park, which is part of the Herschend family of attractions. Flying Fox carries a price tag of approximately $14 million. According to Kentucky Kingdom, the ride's theme centers on a crop-dusting pilot named Jeb Fox. Riders will ...   [read more]

Family Kingdom Amusement Park Positions for Growth with Major Upgrades and New Coaster

Family Kingdom Amusement Park Positions for Growth with Major Upgrades and New Coaster

Family Kingdom Amusement Park in Myrtle Beach, S.C., is preparing to deliver new thrills in 2026, according to park co-owner Les “Corky” Powers. Powers purchased the iconic seaside attraction in 2022 with his wife Debbie and partner Bill Prescott, saving it from closure or serious decline.“The park is in a prime location,” Powers says. “The previous owners never really made it come alive. There wasn't much maintenance and there was no real marketing. We bought it three years ago, and as we head into our fourth season, we're excited to bring in another new ride.”Since taking ownership, Powers and his team have made substantial improvements throughout the park. “We added shade umbrellas, seating, and a lot of overall enhancements,” he explains. “We removed 13 antiquated rides and ...   [read more]

Peter Theunisz is no stranger to the IISF Trade Show. He has attended since the early 2000s, representing KMG of the Netherlands. Over the years, he expanded his business to offer quality used equipment from Europe through UsedRidesEurope.com and represents new ride sales for KMG and Gosetto of Italy.Theunisz arrived at the show with modest expectations, citing 15 percent tariffs on European equipment and ongoing labor concerns tied to the H-2B program. To his surprise, the event exceeded expectations."The show turned out well," Theunisz said.At the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, Theunisz unveiled plans for a portable Musik Express from Gosetto. The ride will transport on two trailers: a center load and an auxiliary trailer carrying the cars, sweeps, and miscellaneous equipment. Designed to resemble a classic European Himalaya-style attraction, the ride emphasizes portability. Folding platforms extend from the main trailer and can be assembled by four workers. It will feature a traditional ...   [read more]

One of the largest displays at the 2026 IISF Trade Show in Gibtown by a U.S.-based ride company was once again Len Soled's Rides 4-U, showcasing a portable Pirate Ship, Spinning Coaster, and a kiddie ride called the Mini Tagada. At the close of the day on Thursday, Soled was pleased with the overall outcome of the show so far. “I'm very happy with the number of people we've seen come through,” said Soled. However, he noted that hesitation among buyers centers on the current labor situation, specifically the arrival and future availability of temporary foreign workers through the H-2B program.“I think once we find out what will happen, orders will start flowing in once the issue is resolved,” said Soled. “I can fully understand their concern, and I hope it's short-lived.”Just before the show, Soled announced a new partnership with UK-based PWS Rides. Rides 4-U will serve as the distributor for the company in North America. PWS is owned by the owner of ...   [read more]
