Empire Adventures Holds a Press Conference
CEO Bill Baldwin hopes to have the park reopened just in time to celebrate its 60th anniversary.

Fantasy Island, the theme and waterpark located in Grand Island, New York closed in February 2020 after 22 years in business. Empire Adventures is currently at work on a 5-year plan to bring back Fantasy Island. 2020 will be focused on beautifying the park grounds. The company has a letter of interest in place for a 15-year lease, and plans to reopen the park in 2021. Opening attractions will include the park’s iconic wooden coaster, the Silver Comet; and new rides will be added on an annual basis.

STORE Capital purchased the property from the previous owner.  Empire Adventures CEO Bill Baldwin then launched the takeover plan.

"Being a person that's been part of the park for so many years. I had to step forward with my guys here and try to revise it," said Baldwin.

The park is reportedly in poor shape and Empire is currently in negotiations with banks and investors to secure funding with hopes of reopening the park in May of 2021 just in time for the 60th anniversary of the park.
