At Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, the largest DC Universe area in the U.S. has arrived. The park opened this new themed land on March 1st, including both new rides and updates to existing DC attractions.

The impressive large-scale expansion invites park-goers into the world of DC superheroes and villains alike, and, per park president Jeffrey Siebert, “brings these iconic characters to fans in Texas like never before.” Siebert adds that the expansion provides “an incredible experience for fans of all ages, where they can step into thrilling new attractions, expanded themed areas, and reimagined classics.” He notes that the expansion allows guests to experience the DC Universe world as never before. “It's the ultimate place to feel like a DC Superhero...” he asserts.

The new area includes three new rides and new themed dining. The attractions span a wide range of ages and excitement levels, appealing to both families and thrill-seekers. The new rides include CYBORG Cyber Revolution, on which riders experience four giant spinning mechanical arms rotating around each other, creating an interlocking pattern. Riders are seated in gondolas which remain upright, positioned at the end of one of four arms, each of which swings around each other. Speed and movement increase as the ride's arms spin and the entire structure rotates as well, creating an intense yet moderate- rated thrill-level ride experience. CYBORG is the largest attraction in the newly themed area, based and themed on the half-human, half-robot cyborg hero in the DC world.

SHAZAM! Tower of Eternity doesn't lack for thrills either,  a drop tower that elevates guests up to 70-feet in the air followed by a series of drops that are more about exhilarating, bouncing excitement than white-knuckle massive drops in gravity.

METROPOLIS Transit Authority takes guests of all ages high above the park on a monorail train that provides a scenic view of the expanded DC Universe area from 17-feet above ground, while taking them along on a relaxing cruise through Metropolis.

All three new rides are Zamperla attractions: a Zamperla NebulaZ, a Zamperla Sky Tower family drop tower and Zamperla aerial monorail ride. The theming and storylines behind each ride make them dynamic experiences. Many fans are especially excited at the METROPOLIS Transit Authority monorail ride, which guests consider a welcome callback to rides such as the People Mover at Disney in its day. Metropolis Transit Authority is also a lengthy and enjoyable respite between coasters and spinning ride thrills, lasting more than 5 minutes. It carries two trains of 16 riders each, with riders facing each other to take in the views.

For dining, the new tasty treat is themed Planet Krypton, for freshly made New York-style thin crust pizzas, garlic knots, and ice cream, all served up amid DC Universe décor.

Also remodeled within the themed area is the DC retail outlet, Daily Planet, which has doubled its retail space. DC merch is varied and extensive in a store that now also serves a function as both entrance and exit for several rides, SUPERMAN: Krypton Coaster and SUPERGIRL Sky Flight.

Within the DC Universe, parkgoers will also enjoy updates to existing rides, and park meet n' greets with the likes of Supergirl, Green Lantern, Batman, The Joker, Poison Ivy, and The Penguin.

Updated rides include the reimagined SkyScreamer which has become SUPERGIRL Sky Flight; the former Rambling Road, now THE PENGUIN: Gotham City Getaway; and Sky Searcher which has been transformed into POISON IVY Toxic Spin.

SUPERGIRL Sky Flight takes guests 200-feet into the air in another high-flying spinning attraction, with guests circling a massive structure at speeds reaching 35 miles per hour.

POISON IVY Toxic Spin takes its riders on a wild whirl through the character's garden via "toxic flowers" that climb high and offer thrills but also a dose of the whimsical for family riders.

And for the reimagined THE PENGUIN: Gotham City Getaway, guests scramble into the iconic villain's getaway car in an action-filled adventure than includes a battle with none other than Batgirl herself. What was once a simple car ride is now an exciting and fun car chase featuring mischievous penguins along with the presence of the battling Batgirl.

These reimagined rides join another that saw a new iteration just last year, the re-themed Vekoma family Streamliner Coaster that is now BATGIRL: Coaster Chase.

Completing the new area of the park and also a part of the DC Universe quiver are classic rides such as the SUPERMAN: KRYPTON Coaster, DC Super-Villains Swing, The JOKER: Carnival of Chaos, and last but not least, GREEN LANTERN Emerald Flight, a re-envisioned plane ride for younger riders, not dissimilar to Disney's Dumbo ride.

The DC Universe also makes its presence known outside the newly themed area, with BATMAN: The Ride and WONDER WOMAN Golden Lasso Coaster both located in the park's Rockville section, and Dr. Diabolical's Cliffhanger located in the Crackaxle Canyon Screampunk District. Elsewhere in the park, guests will also find Pete's Eats has undergone renovation, reopening with a new menu that includes nostalgic diner-type entrees with additions including a self-service beverage station.

The grand opening of the new DC Universe area last month was a big event drawing guests from throughout Texas and far beyond to the theme park, which holds over 60 rides and attractions in all, offering a lineup of seasonal events and live entertainment, including a Mardi Gras Festival that's the largest in Texas, Fright Fest, and Holiday in the Park.

Last November, after the merger with Cedar Fair, Six Flags parks announced plans to invest more than $1 billion over the next two years across its network of 42 theme parks.

Park tickets this year are priced as low as $29 for single day visits, with season passes starting at $65 each.
