Great Wolf Lodge Expands and Renovates Across New England
Great Wolf Lodge has marked a major year of growth in 2025, completing a significant renovation at its Fitchburg, Massachusetts resort and opening a massive new $300 million complex in Mashantucket, Connecticut.
Otter Cave Waterworks features a giant tipping bucket that drenches visitors after a bell signals its release, and what the resort calls “the best water fort treehouse in Boston and Fitchburg.” The four-story structure includes interactive water toys, kid-activated features, and body slides for adventurous young guests.
The Fitchburg resort spans 50,000 square feet of indoor water park space and also offers dry-land activities, including a climbing wall, mini-golf, a large arcade, and MagiQuest—a resort-wide interactive adventure. Families can also enjoy a range of activities, from dining and arts and crafts to evening story times and dance parties.

The new park features a lazy river, wave pool, a second Otter Cave Waterworks, and Otter Springs—a series of gentle slides designed for younger children. Older guests can enjoy High Paw Hollow, a body slide described as delivering “the sensation of racing down a ski slope,” complete with dark tunnels, saucers, twists, and turns before the final splashdown. Other highlights include Crooked Creek, a relaxing lazy river, and River Canyon Run, a thrilling rafting ride, along with the Rapid Racer slide.
The resort also includes outdoor attractions such as a zero-entry pool, hot tub, cabanas, and the Raccoon Lagoon, a shallow play area for children with ample poolside seating.
The resort officially opened on May 6, 2025, featuring 61,000 square feet of adventure attractions, including a ropes course and bowling alley. It also offers 549 family-friendly suites and multiple dining options. Located halfway between New York City and Boston, the resort is expected to become one of Great Wolf's most successful destinations.
John Murphy, CEO of Great Wolf Lodge, described the Mashantucket location as “the next evolution of the Great Wolf Lodge experience,” emphasizing the use of storytelling and immersive theming to enhance the guest experience.
Tribal Chairman Rodney Butler called the partnership “a strategic investment in our long-term prosperity,” noting the project's resilience through years of challenges and delays.

To celebrate the grand opening, Great Wolf Lodge is offering guests 25% off one-night stays and 30% off multi-night stays booked before November 30. The discount applies to stays through December 31, 2025.
