Hersheypark: Candymonium Plus New Dining and Shopping Attractions
Rides 4U - New & Used Rides
Treats for guests at Hersheypark in 2020 will be served up a-plenty as sweet new amenities in the park’s Chocolatetown section expansion.

The $150 million project is bringing 23 acres of additional attractions to the amusement park, which is entering its 113th year.

Candymonium — the park's tallest, fastest and longest roller coaster will certainly be serving up the biggest thrills, however the dining and shopping options promise chocolate-filled enjoyment as well.

The largest dining attractions is The Chocolatier Restaurant Bar + Patio, a full service dining space for up to 300 seated indoors and an additional 100 outdoors on a second-story patio. The menu will be themed with “hints of chocolate.” It will feature an open-kitchen design, and a Carrousel-themed craft cocktail bar on the second level as well.

The restaurant will be the largest themed restaurant in Hershey, and will feature vintage pieces from Hersheypark rides, as well as offering what should be superlative views of other attractions from the second story. The menu promises to be innovative, and will include signature dessert items from the park’s award-winning executive pastry chef.

Another dining option – at least for guests with a sweet tooth – is The Sweeterie, with chocolate-dipped treats, artisan-made baked goods, hand-crafted fudge and more than 50 hand-crafted treats in all from baked goods to chocolate. It will be led by chef Cher Harris and a team of on-site confectioners offering an interactive creation of sweet treats.

Also coming to Chocolatetown is Milton’s Ice Cream Parlor, where servers dubbed “Ice Creamologists” create sundaes and shakes. The ice cream parlor will seat 60 guests indoors and 90 outdoors. The shop is said to be inspired by Milton S. Hershey’s early venture: a malt shop located in Philadelphia. The vintage look of the parlor promises charm, while custom-crafted creations will be served up from over 12 rotating house-made ice cream flavors, and topped with Hershey’s candy, syrups, and sauces. Along with ice cream, the parlor will serve up some quick bite snacks large enough to share.

Then there’s retail: the new Hersheypark Supply Co will be the park’s 10,000-square-foot flagship store. Selling apparel, gifts, toys, and other custom items, the store will have a wide array of souvenir items from name-dropped sweatshirts to exclusive candy-themed toys.

Finally, Chocolatetown will also be home to a brand new Starbucks location, to add a little coffee flavoring to all the chocolate.

The Chocolatier Restaurant, Bar + Patio, Milton’s Ice Cream, and The Sweeterie Confectionary Kitchen will be accessible both inside and outside the front gate, and will be open all year ‘round.

Chocolatetown, planned for a summer opening, will also show off a new front gate with new logo, and a Kisses Fountain, an impressive water feature with a familiar shape. The fountain will also serve as a gathering location for Hershey character figures, and serve as a photo op.

The Candymonium hypercoaster coming to the new park area will be the tallest, fastest, and longest ever presented there, and feature a milk chocolate color track, and trains with a Hershey candy theme. The coaster will offer a lift height of 210 feet, a maximum speed of 76 mph, and a track length of 4,636 feet. It’s designed by  Bolliger & Mabillard and designed as “the world’s sweetest coaster.” The ride will feature iconic Hershey brands “to provide a thrilled experience our guests can only get in Hershey,” according to Hershey Entertainment & Resorts Company President and CEO John Lawn. “We worked with leading industry manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard to assemble a one-of-a-kind hypercoaster with the most airtime of any coaster in Hersheypark.” And to generate that lengthy airtime, the coaster will provide seven camelback hills, and follow a 123-degree hammerhead curve. The ride will finish with a banked curve which will wrap around the shiny new Kisses Fountain.

The park’s 15th coaster, the Candymonium will last a wild 2 minutes and 26 seconds, and is described by park officials as the most immersive and themed coaster experience in the park. It’s designed for older kids, teens, and grown-ups for a maximum adrenaline rush.

There’s a family-centric ride coming to Chocolatetown, too, and it’s a classic. The updated historic Carrousel will be relocated here.

Along with offering the new rides, fountain, dining, and shopping options, Chocolatetown will also serve as a passageway between Hersheypark itself and Hershey’s Chocolate World attraction

Chocolate fans may have to wait for the summer opening of Chocolatetown, but from November 15th through January 4th, they can still get a holiday chocolatey fix. Hersheypark Happy offers over 4 million holiday lights, plus coaster rides and visits from Santa. Purchasing tickets by November 24th leads to a 20% savings on ticket pricing for Christmas Candylane. Decked out for the season will be rides and coasters including Laff Trakk, Sidewinder, sooperdooperLooper®, Wild Mouse, Wildcat, and Cocoa Cruiser. And, there will also be live entertainment with a holiday theme, and a choreographed light show. Last but not least, Santa and his nine reindeer will make a stop at Hersheypark Christmas Candylane; Rudolph, too, will be present.

Additionally, guest can experience nearly 600 illuminated, animated displays from the comfort of their cars, driving through 2-miles of scenic, wooded trails bedecked for the holidays.

And for a holiday souvenir, a Hersheypark Christmas Candylane souvenir mug will be available – and purchasers will enjoy free beverages in the mug all day long.

It’s likely a safe bet that Hersheypark’s holiday attraction will offer shopping experiences steering guests toward chocolates for those Christmas stockings, too.
