It's Time to Celebrate Peanuts at Knott's Berry Farm
Rides 4U - New & Used Rides

It's time to celebrate all things Peanuts at Knott's Berry Farm. The Buena Park, Calif. theme park begins its 2019 Seasons of Fun with the Peanuts Celebration, allowing park guests to enter the world of Charlie Brown and Snoopy big time with Peanuts characters, décor, and comic strip elements that create fun backdrops all over the park. Instagram ready, the event will include themed-food, live entertainment, and a host of activities perfect for kids, and adult Peanuts fans, too. The park has added the Peanuts Celebration to its annual roster of events, joining Halloween attraction Knott's Scary Farm and the holiday event Knott's Merry Farm.

Last year's event was a rousing success for the park, drawing families and Peanuts lovers of all ages, according to park representatives; and that's hardly a surprise. Camp Snoopy has long been an important draw for the park with its Peanuts-themed rides directed at toddlers and up. Camp Snoopy is six-acres of spaciously placed rides and attractions, and was recently remodeled by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company, which purchased the parks from the Knott family in 1997.

Today, the Snoopy theme is combined with scenery that is meant to represent the high Sierras, and more than a dozen kiddie rides such as Timberline Twister and Rocky Mountain Trucking Company are available. Year ‘round, one of the more popular aspects of the Camp Snoopy area is the interactive live show that features Snoopy himself. The attractiveness of live-entertainment featuring Peanuts characters is definitely expanded in the annual Peanuts Celebration event, and even more so this year.

2019's Peanuts Celebration takes the beloved characters out of just that one area of the park, and serves as a special-occasion event with wider age appeal, while still aiming for the heart of smaller park-goers.

The lively Peanuts event will took place weekends January 26th through March 10th as well as on Presidents Day, February 18th. Two weekends were added to this year's Peanuts event from last year's. Admission to the festivities is included with any regular park admission ticket or season pass. Guests can experience the new dive roller coaster, HangTime, depending on height limitations, and then go right back to celebrating the world of the Peanuts gang and their creator, Charles M. Schulz.

The extended event included a lot of surprises and lively activities for attendees, such as photo ops throughout the park with Charlie Brown's kites, thought bubbles, and Snoopy's dog house among them. There's a stronger focus this year on creating social media-ready backdrops throughout the park, a savvy PR move. And of course, the characters themselves will come to life and will appear throughout the park on every celebration day, allowing guests multiple personal interactions.

Theatrical events at Camp Snoopy include a brand-new Space Beagle show, with Snoopy appearing as the first dog on the moon. At the Bird Cage Theater, all ages can learn to draw their favorite Peanuts characters at the Peanuts Sketch School, instructed by Knotts' resident art instructor and following easy, step by step instructions to create the ultimate self-made take-home souvenir.

But arguably the biggest part of the event were the live performances. The park is really pulling out all the stops when it comes to entertainment with numerous stage shows and interactive experiences. Franklin and Linus become cowboys in the Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree at Calico Park in the Ghost Town section of the park; in the same area, there's a meet-up between Pig Pen and animal friends at the Livery Stables. And at the Calico Mine Stage, there are two musical performances scheduled: Sally and Schroder's The Music Goes Round and Round is a compendium of musical tunes performed during the day; at night, park guests will enjoy Woodstock's Musical Festival with the Peanuts Gang accompanied by a family-friendly indie music band, The Jelly of the Month Club for some rock and roll with a wholesome twist.

In Fiesta Village, the park has set up an interesting first-time event: a dance experience with a spin that's unique at Knotts. Discoteca de Silencio, or silent disco, is a dance event that each individual guest will enjoy through a set of headphones provided by the park. Snoopy's brother Spike plays host while guests privately listen to lively dance tunes.

A number of rides also achieve a Peanuts gang makeover: In Camp Snoopy, the Grand Sierra Railroad has a Beagle Bonanza overlay for a trip around Reflection Lake. At the iconic heights of Sky Cabin there will be a tribute to Woodstock called Woodstock's Bird's-Eye View. It too is an overlay of the existing attraction. Guests take their own perch on Woodstock's nest, as the loveable yellow bird takes those aboard the ride on a soaring trip above the theme park and offers a view of the Peanuts celebration below.

And then of course, there's the food, something Knotts-goers have been drawn to since the park began as a roadside stand with an ersatz ghost town, making Mrs. Knotts' fried chicken and boysenberry jam and pie iconic. For this occasion, park guests can enjoy themed eats such as Charlie Browns – chocolatey squares with yellow frosting and a Charlie Brown-centric zig zag stripe. There are cupcakes shaped like Snoopy being offered, too.

Later in the year, look for Knott's to once again celebrate Snoopy's August birthday, with live entertainment and themed baked goods.

Knott's has been stressing social media for all the Peanuts-related events, with everything from a Snoopy Snapchat filter to giveaways only posted to social media.
