It's a Monster Jam Summer and Fall at Cedar Fair Parks
Rides 4U - New & Used Rides
Feld Entertainment and Cedar Fair Entertainment have partnered up for a new interactive experience at three Cedar Fair parks this summer. The entertainment company and the amusement and waterpark creator opened the experience at Cedar Fair's flagship park, Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, on May 18. The event ran through June 30th. The event then opened at Cedar Fair's Kings Dominion in Doswell, Virginia on July 20 and will run through September. 2; and at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom? in Allentown, Pennsylvania, from September 14th through November 3rd.

Monster Jam fans experience immersive shows, attractions, and branded merchandise.

The theme parks may be known for their monstrously large coasters, but the new attraction will offer an entirely different type of thrill. The Monster Jam Freestyle Ride Truck Experience will allow guests to take a ride in a real Monster Jam truck, such as a 10-passenger Grave Digger, or Megalodon truck. Riders will experience a Freestyle-type obstacle course – touted as a fantastic guest experience.

Visitors can also view five of Monster Jam's biggest truck stars, Grave Digger, Max-D, Megalodon, Zombie, and El Toro Loco in Monster Jam Thunder Alley. Each truck will be displayed for great photo ops; guests can sit inside the real Monster Jam Trucks, too.

At the Monster Jam Garage, guests will learn how Monster Jam trucks come to life, interacting with actual Monster Jam truck components, such as a 1500-horsepower engine, and 645-pound tires. Participants can crank the gears of a transmission and view first-hand oversized shocks absorbed landings.

For an additional fee, the youngest guests can enjoy the Monster Jam Build-a-Truck experience, building their own mini-Monster-Jam truck. And, at the Monster Jam Pit Stop Play Area, fans can play out their own action along a miniature track with ramps and obstacles, with Monster Jam die-cast trucks.

Dining options are also a part of the Monster Jam experience. Cedar Fair will offer food and beverage options found at live Monster Jam events, including Monster Jam souvenir sno-cones, cotton candy, and popcorn.

According to Cedar Fair CEO Richard Zimmerman, “Partnering with Feld Entertainment brings together two of the world's premier entertainment companies.” Promising their partnership will provide a “broader and more immersive guest experience,” Zimmerman notes “The opportunity to bring Monster Jam Thunder Alley exclusively to our parks represents the first installment of our strategic collaboration…introducing our parks to Monster Jam's legion of worldwide fans.”

Kenneth Feld, entertainment chairman and CEO of Feld Entertainment adds “Over the past 10 years, our strategy has been to evolve Monster Jam into a brand that reaches our fans year-round, wherever they are, through television, licensing, consumer products, social media and, of course, our live events.” He adds “The creation of Monster Jam Thunder Alley builds upon this strategy, as we have created a highly innovative theme park experience that goes beyond how our fans have ever engaged with Monster Jam before.”

Feld Entertainment offers a wide range of live touring events, from Monster Jam to Disney on Ice, Marvel Universe Live, Jurassic World Live, and Sesame Street Live, among other events. Feld Entertainment has entertained millions of families in more than 75 countries on six continents. Monster Jam is a 365-day franchise that offers live performances, television programming, toys, and now theme park experiences.

Also new this summer at Cedar Fair: Forbidden Frontier on Adventure Island. The new attraction is free with admission, and as described by park spokesperson Tony Clark, visitors will find themselves “in the story…something is always happening.”

The attraction will offer challenges for participants to engage in, and has an immersive back story in which a group is described as living on the island to explore, seek treasure, trade goods, or find a simpler life. The description says “We're told you'll find a thriving community that lives off the land and functions together the best way they know how.” Participants in the attraction will be asked to participate in the enacted lifestyles. According to Cedar Fair “…you may be asked to roll up your sleeves and help farm the land. Or perhaps go on a secret mission, deliver special messages or decipher a cryptic puzzle. You may run into goats, chickens and even an emu. Or better yet, dig for that rumored treasure.”

There is danger afoot however, with a “legend” of a “massive feud” and cavalry sent to restore order. Guests are invited to see if peace has prevailed following a Truce Day, and participate in a celebration of that truce as well as adventure. The park teaser reads “We're counting on you to explore and discover and hopefully return to tell the tale.” The Forbidden Frontier experience starts with a four-person raft across the “Snake River Swamp” or traversing a “boggy bridge” or “Cascade Crossing.” Choosing the route in sets the tone of the attraction, which allows guests to select different paths leading to different frontier adventures. By following different paths, guests can have completely new interactive experiences each time they visit the attraction or multiple adventures during the course of a single visit.
And, looking ahead to 2020, Cedar Point will be celebrating its 150th anniversary as the second oldest theme park in North America. The celebration will be retro- themed and feature multiple events.
