Kings Island Amusement Park to Debut new Luxury Campground
Luxury accommodations less than a mile from Cedar Fair's Kings Island are coming in 2021. Perhaps the perfect antidote to pandemic shut downs and health concerns, this outdoor collection of RV campsites and resort cottages is scheduled for a spring opening. Kings Island Camp Cedar will be open and spacious, with 73 sleek cottages and 164 RV spaces spread out over 50 acres. An additional 100 cottages are planned for the future.
The property has a $27 million price-tag, and along with the variety of stay-options, there will be a diverse selection of guest recreational activities available. Primary among them will sure to be a park visit and stay admission package of some kind, but onsite, plans include both family and adult-only pools with food service and cabanas, walking trails, shops, and exercise facilities. There will be a casual outdoor dining venue as well as a more elegant indoor and outdoor dining spot with bar. Additionally, the grounds will feature picnic tables, firepits, and bathhouses.
Amusement park characters will make an appearance too – Snoopy and other characters will show up at breakfasts and a S'mores with Snoopy event.
The entire resort property will be managed by Cedar Fair Entertainment Company; stay and play packages are expected to be inclusive.
According to Kings Island VP and general manager Mike Koontz, “We are excited to offer our guests a unique lodging experience and a contemporary outdoor retreat so close to Kings Island.” He notes the uniquely luxurious aspect of the resort as well as its ability to accommodate RV stays “will make a visit to our park even more memorable.”
Building the site: Cleveland Construction is handling general contracting; McHarris Architects the architectural approach.
The resort is just one aspect of the long-term plans Cedar Fair is looking at in regard to enhancing its parks and building attendance. The amusement chain plans a big investment in new rides, events and attractions, as well as updates at all parks.
