New Games in Town at Cedar Point
At Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio, there was more fun on the midway this past summer-15 new games in total. The park introduced these additions across three different midway locations, giving guests even more variety and excitement.
According to Dan Austin, Cedar Point's games manager, the park not only launched new games but also made “big updates to many existing locations.” Guests responded enthusiastically, enjoying both the variety and the improved quality of the midway offerings.
Several of the new games were attendant-free, developed in partnership with Bob's Space Racers (BSR). Known for creating unmanned attractions for family entertainment centers, BSR worked with Cedar Point to design technology that could handle the park's high attendance. Popular additions like Bazooka Blast and Clown Around Water Race operated without attendants, allowing them to stay open earlier and later during peak season while reducing wait times for players.
Austin noted that Cedar Point also revived several classics, including Hi-Strikers, Bowler Roller, and Whac-A-Mole. The refreshed mix expanded the midway lineup, ensuring entertainment for guests of all ages and skill levels.

The largest new addition was the Big Ticket Games area on the Main Midway, which featured nine new attractions. Games ranged from individual challenges to group play, with no operator required. The lineup included Bazooka Blast, Short Range Basketball, Clown Around Water Race, Balloon Bust, and Whac-A-Mole.
Players collected “big tickets” at these games, redeemable at the new Big Ticket Redemption Center. Prizes ranged from single-ticket rewards to larger items requiring up to 25 tickets, with some games offering as many as nine tickets in a single play. Conveniently, guests no longer needed to carry prizes around all day; they could return later—or even on a future visit—to redeem their winnings.

Other areas of the park also featured fresh updates. The maXair Midway offered Can Smash, Spot On, and Gone Fishin', all designed by BSR.
Can Smash modernized the classic tin can toss, awarding prizes to those who cleared the platform in two throws.
Spot On was brightly colored and kid-friendly, awarding prizes based on the color where the ball landed.
Gone Fishin' was a custom game celebrating Cedar Point's most recognizable bird, the seagull. Players “caught” three fish, and the total weight determined the prize. Rewards were seagull-themed and exclusive to Cedar Point, making it a popular choice.
Meanwhile, the Gemini Midway hosted the updated Hi-Strikers, available in both adult and kid versions. The children's game guaranteed a prize every time, while the adult version offered a more traditional strength challenge, both enhanced with sounds and lights to match the lively atmosphere of the midway.

For the first time, a game was also added to Camp Snoopy. The Snoopy-themed Balloon Bust, set inside Snoopy's iconic doghouse, quickly became a hit. Prizes included Snoopy and Woodstock merchandise, further enhancing the kid-focused area's charm.
Cedar Point paired this gaming expansion with other updates, including a major facelift for The Happy Friar. Famous for its fresh-cut fries, the stand gained an indoor waiting area and cafeteria-style service for quicker food access.
With its mix of nostalgia, innovation, and unique theming, Cedar Point's new and updated games proved to be a hit and promised to delight guests for many seasons to come.
