Out of This World Updates on Galaxy's Edge and the Disney Empire
Rides 4U - New & Used Rides
Reservations are already sold out for Galaxy's Edge visits at Disneyland through June 23rd. A four hour window for visiting the attraction allowed up to six people per reservation. After June 23, reservations will no longer be required to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. For those longing to be an early arrival on the new “planet,” guests need to book a room at one of the three hotels at the resort. Guests staying during those dates will receive a “designated reservation during their stay” according to the Disneyland website.

Whether attending sooner or later, Galaxy's Edge offers a wide range of experiences for guests, from interactive experiences to food selections that fit the environment.

Walt Disney Imagineering promises encounters with rebel spies, alien creatures, droids, shopkeepers, pirates, lightsaber smiths, bounty hunters and more at both Disneyland and Disney's Hollywood Studios in Florida. The land's Black Spire Outpost village on the Star Wars planet of Batuu will offer immersive experiences to visitors who opt in. According to Bob Chapek, chairman of Disney parks and experiences, guests will be remembered not only during the course of a single visit, but in repeat visits to the park if they participate. “We'll remember what they did the previous visit.”

The interactions are based on the character mix from smugglers to adventurers who live on Batuu. And they will hardly be the traditional meet and greet photo interactions of the past. Instead interactions will be based around guests own personal stories, according to Disney Imagineering. From resistance spies asking for assistance to Chewbacca looking at the docked Millenium Falcon, the engagement with characters will be set up to feel organic to the attraction, and will be specified to guest experience.

For example, if guests crash the Millennium Falcon into a spire in Black Spire Outpost while piloting the ship on the Smugglers Run ride, they'll experience consequences, such as wrath of space pirate Hondo Ohnaka, who runs the shady intergalactic shipping company that is the attraction's setting.

So, the success or failure of guests on the ride's mission is important, as their reputation will follow them around Galaxy's Edge. The bartender at Olga's Cantina might suggest they owe credits to Hondo; Harko the bounty hunter might demand they hand over galactic credits, available in a digital wallet through the Play Disney Parks app.

Other interactions will be available with Savi the lightsaber smith in the secret lightsaber workshop Chamber of the Guardians; black-market shopkeeper Dok-Ondar will offer bartering experiences with visitors.

Guests will also be able to have interactive dining experiences: the creatures and plans in the Star Wars oeuvre inspired the menu of foods and drinks, with their early ingredients but unearthly names and appearance. Five different locations in both Florida and California serve up treats that have both sweet and spicy flavors.

Craft cocktails for adults are available at Oga's Cantina, based in design on the cantina in the original Star Wars film where Han Solo had a beverage or two. While a DJ droid spins tunes, bartenders will serve up cocktails drawn from glass tanks above the bar that appear to be filled with alien creatures marinating. The creatures themselves will come to life, and the entire space will be activated. The drink menu includes concoctions such as a Bespin Fizz Cosmopolitan, an Outer Rim Margarita, and a Yub Nub rum punch. There will also be a beer, wine, and cider selection with names appropriate to the attraction. Non-alcoholic beverages include a Jabba Juice, Carbon Freeze, and the Blue Bantha milk and cookies combo with non-dairy, plant-based milk. Dining will be limited here, and includes a petri dish called Oga's Obsession filled with dried fruits and pop rocks.

At Docking Bay 7, quick service food-hall style eats will include some spicy items. The dining spot will be located right across from the Millenium Falcon; a Sienar-Chall Utilipede-Transport ship with open cargo doors will top the cylindrical restaurant, which will have a backstory indicating that the transport ship makes stops throughout the galaxy collecting ingredients and feeding guests. Inside, guests will dine under a cargo pod lowered into the dining room from the food-freighter on the roof, with barrels and crates as chairs and seating areas inside special effects-equipped shipping containers with different themes, each run by a Black Spire vendor such as a fish, fruit, and alien distillery. The fishmonger will also have a “carbonite freezing machine” with special effects and steam, and unusual fish and creatures appearing to be frozen in carbonite.

On the actual menu for park guests: Smoked Kaadu Ribs (spicy and sweet pork ribs), Fried Endorian Tip-Yip (fried chicken tenders), and Felucian Garden Spread (plant-based meatballs with herb hummus) among other dishes. Beverages will include fruit punch called Moof Juice, and iced tea and lemonade called Phattro.

At Ronto Roasters, sausages will be roasted on a rotisserie spit, at a spot that's all about meat and spices. A spit of “space meat” will appear to be cooking over a fire burning thanks to a repurposed, shaking and rattling pod-racing engine. Turkey jerky in spicy or sweet flavors, and a spicy Ronto Wrap sausage and pork sandwich with Szechuan peppercorn sauce will be served up. To drink: raspberry lemonade Sour Sarlacc with spicy mango.

Guests looking for a more soothing beverage can find Blue Milk and Green Milk at the Milk Stand, which will be plant-based. Blue Milk has berry and melon flavors; Green Milk tropical and citrus tastes. The milks will be frozen and similar to a milkshake; over at Oga's the Blue Bantha is a simpler chilled milk version of the beverage. Here, glass containers filled with Blue Milk will hang from a tattered red and gold canopy.

Last but not least there's the popcorn stand run by a local farmer, Kat Saka's Kettle, a colorful mix filled with a bevy of flavors including sweet, salty, savory and spicy.

In short, whether dining, shopping, or creating light sabers, guests will have many ways to interact with the Star Wars universe in Galaxy's Edge.
